The Cidery WA Sweet Rosie x 2
Sweet Rosie is a “mid-strength" cider of 3.5% Alc and exhibits the bright refreshing sweetness associated with the Pink Lady apple.
Many mass-produced sweet wines and ciders exhibit a combination of a manufactured, confected sugary sweetness with industrial food acids, leaving a cloying and unsatisfying mouthfeel. The experience of such drinks often leads to a general preference towards drier cider styles.
A good sweet cider, should exhibit sweetness that is bright and natural and reminiscent of ripe fruit, which should then be balanced by the fruit's own natural acidity. These characteristics are to be found in The Cidery’s Sweet Rosie, which has the classic character of initial fruit sweetness balanced by a fresh natural acidity, much sought after in classic sweet cider styles.
Bridge Roads Chevalier Scrumpy x 2
Bridge Roads Scrumpy Strong Cider has been made using local apples from the Beechworth hills. This cider is unfiltered, unpasturised and bottle fermented on yeast lees, not to mention it’s also scrumpolicious!
The Cidery WA Spider x 2
Spider Cider is a 5% sparkling dry cider with “real” apple character, that is both satisfying and refreshing.
Following the crushing of premium quality local apples, fermentation of the juice is carried out using champagne yeasts and temperature control to retain the natural fruit characters. Following fermentation the processing ensures that these attractive characters are retained, producing a natural dry cider with fresh acidity and a clean dry finish.
Coldstream VIC x 4
A small Victorian brewery producing a cider…surely one worth investigating. Pours into a wine glass with a solid carbonation lifting up a short lived mousse. The nose carries clean yeast character with some white grape (verdello perhaps?) and pear notes along with the expected apple notes very reminiscent of a pink lady. Well-balanced blend of dry finish with sweet apple in the mouth, the carbonation definitely helping with the perception of dryness. A very good effort and perhaps a nice pairing for roast pork or sausage and sauerkraut.
Island Brew SA x 2
Island Cider is a clean, crisp, refreshing cider best enjoyed over ice on a warm summers day
